California requires a VSSI inspection before the DMV will register your salvage, rebuilt, or reconstructed vehicle. We're a certified station — certificate sent electronically to DMV. No extra trips needed.
⚠ The old Brake & Lamp Inspection was officially replaced by the VSSI Program (Sept 2024). We are fully licensed for the new state-required inspection.
Is This Required For You?
California law requires a VSSI before the DMV will re-register or retitle these vehicles. If any of these apply to you, call us today.
Insurance declared your vehicle a total loss and you bought it back, or you purchased a salvage-title vehicle. A VSSI is required before the DMV will register it.
Your vehicle was repaired after being declared a total loss and needs to be certified safe before the DMV will issue a revived salvage title.
Purchased a vehicle back from your insurance company after it was totaled? California requires a VSSI before registration can be processed.
Received a brake or lighting citation from law enforcement? We are a licensed station that can verify the repair and sign off your fix-it ticket.

Pass the First Time
A little preparation before your inspection can save you time and money. These are the most common reasons vehicles fail — fix them before you come in.
Walk around your car and check every light: headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and reverse lights. Any burnt-out bulb is an automatic fail.
Grinding, squealing, or a soft/spongy pedal are red flags. Have your brakes inspected before your VSSI if you suspect any issues.
Pull every belt fully out, confirm it retracts smoothly, and confirm the latch clicks and holds. Check all seats.
Cracks in the driver's line of vision or streaking wiper blades can cause a failure. Test the washer fluid too.
The BAR-SIS system cross-checks your VIN against NHTSA recalls. Any unrepaired recall is an automatic fail. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov before coming in.
Check tire tread and pressure. Make sure the vehicle tracks straight — hard pulling indicates a suspension issue.
If your vehicle failed a VSSI at another station, we'll give you a clear, itemized list of exactly what needs to be repaired — no mystery charges, no pressure upsells.
You're completely free to get repairs done anywhere you choose. When you're ready, come back to us for the re-inspection.
Our technician walks you through every item so you fully understand your vehicle's situation.
